The UCSF Alpha Clinic is committed to training the next generation of physicians and scientists who will discover and apply new cell and gene therapies in regenerative medicine.
The UCSF Alpha Clinic Research Fellowship training program provides interdisciplinary training that assigns the highest merit on translating basic science into novel interventions in regenerative medicine. The program is designed to equip trainees with the skills needed to apply unique knowledge gained from taking care of patients with human disease and to develop therapeutic approaches to treat patients, based upon laboratory discovery.
Ideally, this training would prepare trainees to become leaders in the field of regenerative medicine that is based upon broad learning in the concepts of developmental biology, stem cell biology, genetic manipulation, therapeutic application, regulatory/ethical issues along with their application to clinical practice in rigorous trials. Programmatic activities will include a mix of research experience, optional coursework, presentations, and community-facing activities.
